chapter 1

Flamepaw parted his jaws to take in the fresh scents of the forest. He crept forward careful to not swish his tail too much. His eyes narrowed at the cat in the clearing. He slowly made his way to the edge of the bushes.  He sank into a hunters crouch and prepared to leap.
"Hey Flamepaw! What are you doing?" Flamepaw's ear twitched as he tried to ignore Waterpaw. Then his heart sank as Blueclaw turned and stared at him letting him know that the lesson was over. Flamepaw rose to his feet and shot a glare towards Waterpaw. Waterpaw glanced back and forth between an annoyed Blueclaw and a glaring Flamepaw before realizing what happened.
"Do you have to ruin everything Waterpaw?" Flamepaw asked angrily before turning and beginning to clean his bright orange paws.
"Waterpaw, you must learn to look at what is going on before barging in like that." Blueclaw said in a soft voice. Waterpaw lowered his head.
Blueclaw nudged Flamepaw and looked in Waterpaw's direction. Flamepaw sighed and walked over to Waterpaw.
"I'm sorry. Hey where is Sandpaw? maybe we can all train together!" Flamepaw asked. Waterpaw shrugged. Just then a voice rang out from the camp.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey come to highledge for a meeting!"
"That was Rainstar! come on!" Waterpaw said in the direction of the other two cats, before he sprinted off towars the thunderclan camp. Flamepaw took off after him. When he arrived all the thunderclan cats were leaping down in front of highledge, where Rainstar stood with Sandpaw at at his side and Wildfur standing a little behind and to the left of them.when all the cats were in the clearing Rainstar turned to Sandpaw.
"I, Rainstar, leader of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice.  He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn.  Sandpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Rainstar asked. Flamepaw looked down, annoyed at the fact that he was not the first of the apprentices to become a warrior, you happy for sandpaw at the same time.      "I do." Sandpaw replied simply.

"Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name.  Sandpaw, from this moment you will be known as Sandeyes.  StarClan honors your courage and foresight, and we welcome you as a full member of ThunderClan.
Rainstar layed her head on the new warrior’s shoulder. Sandeyes licked her shoulder and went over to other warriors, as the Clan chanted "Sandeyes! Sandeyes!" as the other warriors congratulated him he moved around to where Waterpaw, Flamepaw, and Blueclaw sat.
     "Well?" He asked.
"Congratulations." Flamepaw said with sincerity. A smile twitched at the edges of Sandeyes's mouth.
"Thanks." Sandeyes replied. he opened his mouth to say something else but closed it again. "Just...thanks." He said before moving to take his place for his night vigil. After the ceremony was over the cats moved back to their various dens and Flamepaw and Waterpaw moved back to the apprentice den.
"Hey Waterpaw?" Flamepaw asked his friend. "I really am sorry." Waterpaw nodded and lay down with his tail over his nose. Flamepaw did the same and went to sleep.

  1. :) Sound like a great beginning to an interesting adventure. Waterpaw seems like the fun, jump in feline where Flamepaw wants to learn what needs to be learned. It is fun to read.
